Hello all! I'm Rachel, the creative mind behind The Singing Sparrow.

I'm a graphic designer, web designer and photographer by trade and an all around creative being in general.

I'm an artist. This was the title that I wanted for myself my whole life. Whether writing, photography, design, painting or drawing, I love creating. Sometimes this even translates into sewing. I've learned to quilt from some lovely ladies in My husband's family including my Mother-in-law, Grammy and Aunt. I've returned to the sewing that I first explored in 4-h projects, and now, I create quilts, bags, decorations and whatever else I fancy.

I'm also a baker - I learned from my mother, when I was young, the wonders of homemade. And, of course, who can resist a good dessert. Pies, cakes, cookies, candies and chocolates, I love to make them all.

I am a country girl at heart, relocated from a small town in Ohio to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I attended college, and finally, north to another small town in PA. Those of you who have been following my blogs know that I love the outdoors and many weekends are spent with my husband and our puppy, Ajay, out and about. We kayak, canoe, hike and camp. Many of our adventures are written about in the blog, as a journal of sorts to store memories and share them with friends, family, fellow bloggers, locals and anyone who might be interested in our finds.

I wanted to have a single space for you to come to for my photography, design work and blog.

On my blog you'll find a little bit of everything. I'll post recipes, as I try them out, documenting the results and adding little tips. You'll also find information on organic and eco-friendly living as my little family work towards healthier eating habits and being more conscious of what we support in purchase. And, of course, you'll get to come along on our trips, whether kakaying the Allegheny or hiking to an iron furnace or even when we're travelling out of state.

I hope I've let you in on a little of who I am. You're always welcome to send me an email if you'd like to know more. And if you have a need for design or web work, let me know, I'd love to help you out. Have a wonderful day!
